Civil War: 1861 delves into the initial battles of the American Civil War, capturing the essence of both minor skirmishes and significant conflicts of that pivotal year. Beginning with the clash at 'Big Bethel' and progressing towards the considerably larger engagements at 'Bull Run' and 'Wilson's Creek,' this game provides an immersive experience.
In 1861, a plethora of volunteer recruits on both sides entered the battlefield with zeal but lacked practical combat experience. The weaponry predominantly reflects the Napoleonic Era, featuring a variety of muzzle-loading, smoothbore artillery.
Throughout this simulation, many recognizable leaders of the civil war are portrayed as junior officers, commanding Union or Confederate forces in these critical battles, allowing players to explore alternative historical outcomes.
